Playdate Connection, based out of Northridge, California is a networking and business referral group for mompreneurs and busy parents. Playdate events are organized so that parents can network and learn new business knowledge while their children play.

“I started Playdate Connection because I wanted to start a business that would enable me to spend more time with my children. I have met so many mom’s who wish that they could earn extra income while being a stay-at-home mom,” Playdate Connection Founder Michelle Arevalo said, “Therefore, I wanted to cultivate a community where mothers can bring their kids to a playdate while they network and build new business contacts.”

The word may not be in the dictionary yet, but “Mompreneur” is the newest buzzword as more and more moms are figuring out creative and innovative ways to earn a living while raising children simultaneously.

“Playdate Connection offers so much more than networking itself,” Arevalo said, mother of two boys ages two and five-years-old. “We also provide educational seminars, hold charity events and offer business support in the form of Business Mastermind Groups.”

Lisa Fisher, mother to two-year-old autistic son, Drake, works as a business consultant for Jamberry Nails, and accredits the growth of her business as well as her sons improved social developmental to her active involvement in Playdate Connection.

“My experience with Playdate Connection has been extraordinary.” Fisher said. “My business has skyrocketed. I paid for my membership within a month with the business I gained from Playdate Connection. I owe all my business to Playdate Connection and the connections I’ve met through the events. It has brought me in contact with so many amazing moms who are just like me!”

Arevalo has partnered with several baby and kid friendly locations in the San Fernando Valley and Westside to offer Playdate Connection meetings at places such as Books and Cookies, We Rock the Spectrum, Pamper & Play, Maddie’s Playhouse, and much more. Moms are able to discuss business while they hold their babies, breastfeed, watch their kids laugh and play in a safe environment, and connect with other moms for community and support.

Jodi Roscoe Mann, mother of two-year-old son Henry, is a Playdate Connection member and Independent Stylist for Stella & Dot. Mann attributes her broadened network and newfound businesses for her to support to Playdate Connection.

“As a working mom we really don’t have the option to do social playdates, as most happen during the weekdays while I’m at work and my son is at pre-school,” Mann said. “I really appreciate that with Playdate Connection I can mix my business, with his pleasure, and both my son and I get to form new friendships.”

Playdate Connection launched in June 2015, and has grown rapidly in memberships as well as Facebook members since then. Arevalo expects to see an influx of more members as the word continues to spread, and as more moms become interested in the mompreneur trend.

“I would definitely recommend Playdate Connection to other mompreneurs and working parents. Where else can you network, get great business advice, and still keep your child entertained?” Jaclyn Mandel said, owner of Get Goalden Life Coaching and mother of five-year-old son, Drew. “Playdate Connection has definitely been a community that I am proud to call my own. The members are so supportive and pleasant to be around.”
