Newborns in Need Charity Drive and Pre-Black Friday Event

Burbank, California- November 22 2015 -The holidays are just around the corner. It’s the season for giving – and dodging pushy shoppers on Black Friday. What if you could give to a worthy cause and avoid Black Friday crowds, while getting your shopping done with no lines, and supporting small businesses and mompreneurs? Come join Burbank residents and surrounding communities at Mama-San Boutique on November 22nd from 12-5pm to shop, while also having the chance to give to Newborns in Need, Inc. and provide impoverished newborns with basic essentials.
The best part of this event is- when you shop with a small business mompreneur, you are helping to pay for a mortgage or school tuition. And when you donate to a charity such as Newborns in Need, Inc., you are helping a mom bathe, change, and keep her baby warm this holiday season.
“We don’t want any parent who faces economic or health challenges, to worry about how to provide for their newborn,” said Melanie Bickelman, Director of the Southern California- San Fernando Valley Chapter for Newborns in Need Inc. “We’re honored to have any organization who likes to help us. Our goal is to have enough items to make baby care baskets. We’re based strictly on donations.”
The Pre-Black Friday event will include mompreneur and small business owned vendors such as LA Gold Parties, LulaRoe Clothing, Ruby Ribbon Shapewear, Younique, Jamberry Nails, and Barefoot Books. Expecting and nursing moms are able to shop the Mama-San Boutique Resale & Thrift Shop for discount maternity clothing, nursing bras, breast pumps, and diaper bags.
One of the vendors, Nikki Kilgore with LA Gold Parties, will be at the event from 12-2pm to accept unwanted items in exchange for cash. LA Gold Parties is a family-owned fine jewelry business that purchases old, broken or unwanted gold, sterling silver, diamond & platinum jewelry for cash. Certified licensed buyers will be at the event to appraise jewelry and make a cash offer on the spot.
“This is an amazing opportunity for people to come support a good cause without taking money out of their own pocket, and even make money themselves. It’s a win-win situation,” said Kilgore of LA Gold Parties. “So often people think they are going to get $20 for their items, and they receive $500 or more.”
All Burbank community residents and surrounding areas are encouraged to drop off donations for Newborns in Need, Inc. at Mama-San Boutique anytime between 12-5pm during the time of the event. Preferred new baby items include: diapers size newborn and one, pacifiers, bottles, hooded bath towels, infant appropriate books, and baby toiletries such as diaper rash cream, baby wash and shampoo. Monetary donations to the Non-Profit Newborns in Need, Inc. are also accepted.
Playdate Connection, a San Fernando Valley based organization which hosts events to support mompreneurs and working parents, will be sponsoring the event.
“Playdate Connection was not only created to bring mompreneurs and working parents together to business network while our children have a safe space to play at kid-friendly locations,” said Michelle Arevalo, Playdate Connection Founder. “Charitable giving is an important pillar of Playdate Connection. We want to make a strong contribution to our community by organizing playdates that will make a profound impact on local non-profit organizations.”
Mama-San Boutique and Playdate Connection, partnered together to bring forth this charitable and small business supportive community event.
Michelle Arevalo with Playdate Connection will be reading from Barefoot Books to children, which is an exquisite book line filled with wonderful stories. Kids will also be able to make their own bookmarks at the event.
Playdate Connection will organize a raffle where for every $25 purchase, guests can receive a raffle ticket to win $100.
