Next to love, one of the most important attributes a mother can provide for her child, is security. LegalShield mompreneur and Playdate Connection member, Joy Bengson, dedicates her time to offering comfort and security not only to her five-year-old son, but also to valued customers by offering identity and civil rights protection. It is an empowering feat which Joy believes is made more successful through the help of a Los Angeles-based organization which supports working moms just like her, called Playdate Connection.

Playdate Connection was launched in June 2015. Michelle Arevalo decided to start a business that would enable her to spend more time with her children and cultivate a community where mothers can bring their kids to playdates and kid-friendly locations while they business network.

“So many mompreneurs have the common challenge of trying to find time to work on their business. Playdate Connection provides the unique opportunity for mompreneurs to bring their kids to work while they network and learn new business knowledge,” said Arevalo.

Joy Bengson is a franchise owner of LegalShield. It is an identity theft company which protects and restores individual identities and educates families, small business owners and employees about protection coverage offered by LegalShield. She joined Playdate Connection after being invited to a playdate meeting by Arevalo on the Playdate Connection Facebook page.

“Since joining Playdate Connection, I’ve secured new clients and empowered them and their families with LegalShield protection. By regularly attending Business Mastermind meetings, I’ve developed trust and relationships with other members,” said Bengson. “It gives me great satisfaction to know that I provide a service that people need and use to protect their identities and their loved ones.”

Arevalo finds deep gratification in knowing that Playdate Connection members are able to increase business clients and productivity through the resources and networking relationships offered by Playdate Connection, while being able to spend more time with their children.

“I admire Joy Bengson because she takes full advantage of all the resources available to her in order to make her business successful,” said Arevalo. “I am proud that Joy is a member. She really knows how to utilize Playdate Connection as a platform to help her gain new knowledge and customers. Joy always says, ‘fortune is in the follow-up.’ She has created solid relationships within the Playdate Connection community by actually setting up one-on-one meetings with everyone.”

Bengson, known by many other Playdate Connection members as being extremely “determined and hardworking,” believes that hearing the word “no,” is the true beginning of the sales process.

“Following up is so important with potential clients,” Bengson said. “In sales, it takes multiple conversations before someone becomes a client. Oftentimes, I need to ask the potential client, ‘is there something I haven’t made clear to you?’ With consistent follow-ups, it’s usually a matter of time before a potential client becomes an actual client.”

Playdate Connection has partnered with several baby and kid friendly locations in the San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley  and West Los Angeles to offer meetings at places such as Giggles ‘n’ Hugs, We Rock the Spectrum, Pamper & Play, Maddie’s Playhouse, and many more. Moms are able to discuss business while they hold their babies, watch their kids laugh and play in a safe environment while connecting with other moms for community and support

“By being with other moms who are raising children and also running their business, we have so much in common to build on,” said Bengson. “As we meet and become better acquainted, we learn about each other’s businesses, which in turn makes it comfortable to refer each other out to our own circles of friends. It’s a great way to balance work life while raising a family.”
